Breakthrough in the Analysis of Histone Codes
Recent collaborative work between Professor Christodoulos Floudas and Professor Benjamin Garcia (Princeton Molecular Biology) was selected to appear in the Faculty of 1000 Biology. Faculty of 1000 Biology is an award-winning online service that highlights and evaluates the most interesting papers published in the biological sciences, based on the recommendations of over 2000 of the world’s top researchers.
Their paper, entitled “High-throughput characterization of combinatorial histone codes”, presents the first effective on-line LC-MS/MS protocol for the real-time separation and Middle Down MS detection of modified histone proteins, thus providing important biological insight towards understanding the elusive Histone Code. A second collaborative publication, entitled “A mixed-integer linear optimization framework for the identification and quantification of targeted post-translational modifications of highly modified proteins using multiplexed ETD tandem mass spectrometry”, presents the bioinformatics platform used to analyze these complex datasets.
