Multiscale Analysis of Morphogen Gradients

Images from the Shvartsman Lab

An NSF award by the Office of Emerging Frontiers in Research and Innovation supports work designed to address a fundamental question of developmental biology: what controls the spatial and temporal patterns of cell differentiation? Rigorous studies of pattern formation are necessary to understand basic principles of embryogenesis, to elucidate origins of developmental disorders, and to provide rational guidelines for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. The Princeton-led research team includes Stas Shvartsman (CBE and Genomics Institute), Chris Rushlow (NYU, Biology), Hang Lu (GA Tech, Chemical Engineering) and Saurabh Sinha (UIUC, Computer Science).

For more infomation about Professor Shvartsman's research please see the Shvartsman Laboratory site.
