Brangwynne Named NIH New Innovator
Clifford P. Brangwynne, Assistant Professor of Chemical and Biological Engineering, has just been named a Director’s New Innovator by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), in a press release issued today. The New Innovator award initiative, established in 2007, is designed specifically to support unusually creative new investigators with highly innovative research ideas who are within 10 years of their terminal degree, and is accompanied by a $1.5M research award. The NIH Director's New Innovator Program is funded through the NIH Common Fund, whose programs are designed to overcome major research barriers and pursue emerging opportunities for the benefit of the biomedical research community at large. Also among the 51 researchers receiving the award was CBE alumna Debra Auguste *05, currently on the faculty at Harvard University.
