Literacy & Language
LALDEF: Latin American Legal Defense and Education Fund, Inc.
assisting low-income Latin Americans with access to legal, educational and health-related services
LALDEF began an adult ESL program last year and would like to evaluate and measure the program’s retention levels, student satisfaction, and students’ progress (in the language) and personal growth. How can these aspects of the program be measured and the results used to improve the classes?
YWCA - ESL Program (Princeton)
English as a second language
The YWCA’s English as a Second Language program draws an array of people at all levels of literacy from nearly every country in the world. The program provides ESL education and also provides activities to address some of the social issues that impact new immigrants and others who have limited connections in the community. A number of interesting research opportunities exist with this organization in language, culture, and/or community-building.
