Abstract:
In 1997 Laurent Ney created his own structural engineering design office in Brussels, Belgium. The office has gained international reputation with their projects that research structural forms. The result is a fascinating portfolio of bridges, pedestrian bridges and canopies. In this presentation Laurent Ney explains the context within which he operates. Within a discipline that is anchored in history and a legacy of 19th and 20th century engineers, Ney explores the boundaries of the art of engineering. Themes like hierarchy, typology, geometry, connection, context etc. are placed in perspective and announce the essence of his quest: Freedom of Form-Finding, an integral vision of the art of engineering today. Ney clarifies these key drivers with a number of his signature projects.
Please note that this seminar will also as Juan Sobrino as a speaker.
