Building Performance Modeling - Predicting a Path to Net Zero Energy/Carbon
Speaker: Patrick Bailey, Mechanical Engineer
Series: CEE Departmental Seminars
Location: Bowen Hall Auditorium
Date/Time: Tuesday, October 12, 2010, 4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Government regulations, environmental imperatives and public sentiment are increasingly focusing on sustainability, energy, carbon accounting and mitigation and related topics. This seminar will look at the application of energy simulation tools as a method for improving the performance of proposed building designs and for assessing the performance of existing buildings. Building Information Modeling (BIM), desktop and cloud energy simulation tools, and a general approach to methods for net zero (energy/carbon) buildings will be discussed, along with pitfalls associated with using simulation tools to predict future building performance.
The seminar will be given by Pat Bailey, a mechanical engineer, former senior product manager for sustainability at Autodesk and co-founder of Green Building Studio, Inc. which was acquired by Autodesk in 2008.
