Grad Student Minghui Diao is awarded a NASA Earth System Science Fellowship
Congratulations to CEE graduate student Minghui Diao! Minghui has been awarded a NASA Earth System Science Fellowship. Her proposal entitled "Aircraft-Based Measurements of Ice Supersaturated Regions in the Upper Troposphere and Lower Stratosphere and Comparisons of AIRS Climatologies" is aimed to provide the first in situ high resolution survey of water vapor from the Earth's surface to the upper troposphere and from the Arctic to Antarctica based on the measurement of Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VCSEL) hygrometer on NSF G-V research plane. The proposed water vapor dataset will be compared with NASA AIRS satellite data to help validate satellite observation, as well as being analyzed to help understand ice supersaturations, cloud formation, moisture transport and water vapor feedback, which are critical issues for predicting future climate.
