Two CEE Alumni Receive Prestigious Awards from the American Concrete Institute
Sarah L. Billington ('90), who is currently Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Stanford University, has been elected a Fellow of the American Concrete Institute (ACI). Fellows of the Institute are recognized for making "outstanding contributions to the production or use of concrete materials, products, and structures in the areas of education, research, development, design, construction, or management".
In addition, Eric Hines ('95) was awarded the Wason Medal for Most Meritorious Paper, and the Chester Paul Seiss Award for Excellence in Structural Research, by the ACI. The Wason Medal was awarded "for presenting an approach to assess the crushing capacity in hollow rectangular bridge piers", while the Seiss Award was given "for outlining an approach to assess the physical behavior of bridge piers subjected to horizontal force and displacement."
