The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is very pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Zondlo as an assistant professor in our department. Mark joins us from Southwest Sciences in Sante Fe, NM, where he is a Senior Research Scientist. Prior to his position at Southwest Science, Mark held a post-doctoral fellowship at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in Boulder, CO. Mark earned a PhD in Atmospheric Chemistry at the University of Colorado in 1999, and a BA in Chemistry from Rice University in 1994. His research interests include development and testing of laser-based instrumentation; measurements of atmospheric water vapor, methane, ammonia, and carbon dioxide; fundamental mechanisms of cloud formation; and the interaction of cloud particles and gas phase chemistry. Mark joins both the CEE Department and the Center for Mid-Infrared Technology for Health and the Environment (MIRTHE), with an appointment that begins February 1, 2008. We all very much look forward to welcoming Mark to our department, and look forward to the many contributions we are sure he will make to the CEE Department, to MIRTHE, and to the profession at large.
