CEE Department Hires Two Assistant Professors in Structural Engineering
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is very pleased to announce the appointment of two new assistant professors in our department: Sigrid Adriaenssens and Branko Glisic.
Sigrid joins us from the University of Brussels, where she has been a faculty member in the Department of Mechanics of Materials and Constructions since 2006. From 2003 to 2006, Sigrid was a Senior Project Engineer for Ney and Partners in Brussels, and prior to that she was a Visiting Fellow in the Civil Engineering Department at the University of Mauritius. Sigrid received both a PhD (2000) and Masters (1997) degree from the Centre for Lightweight Structures at the University of Bath, and a Bachelor of Engineering (1995) from the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering at the University of Bath. Her research interests include lightweight structures, form-finding structures, and structural optimization.
Branko joins us from SMARTEC SA, a Swiss company focused on structural health monitoring. He joined SMARTEC in 2000, after receiving his PhD earlier that year from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology – Lausanne (EPFL). Branko holds degrees in Civil Engineering (1994) and Theoretical Mathematics (1996), both from the University of Belgrade. His research interests include sensing and structural health monitoring, and smart structures and materials.
Sigrid and Branko will join the Materials, Mechanics, and Structures (MMS) program within CEE. We all very much look forward to welcoming Sigrid and Branko to our department, and look forward to the many contributions we are sure they will provide to the CEE Department and to the profession at large.
