James A. Smith Named AMS Robert E. Horton Lecturer in Hydrology for 2011

The American Meteorological Society has announced the selection of James A. Smith as the Robert E. Horton Lecturer in Hydrology for 2011. The citation reads, “For outstanding contributions to the study of radar-based rainfall estimation, the scaling properties of rainfall and basin runoff response, and the hydrometeorology of extreme floods.”

The American Meteorological Society will make a formal presentation at the Annual Awards Banquet on January 26, 2011 at the Washing State Convention Center in Seattle.  Jim will give the lecture, titled "What Robert Horton Did Not Know About Floods" at the annual meeting.
