Sigrid Adriaenssens and Branko Glisic co-taught a course on German thin-shell structures in the fall of 2012 that has resulted in a new exhibit, "Evolution of German Shells: Efficiency in Form." The exhibit will officially open at 4:30 p.m. on May 24, 2013, on the Princeton campus in the Friend Center Engineering Library. The public is invited to attend.

On Wednesday, May 1st, Professor David Billington delivered his very last lecture in CEE 262 - Structures in the Urban Environment (known as "Bridges" to the students) in McCosh 50. Lei Tao, a postdoctoral research associate working with Professor Mark Zondlo, won top honors at Princeton University's eighth annual Innovation Forum sponsored by the Keller Center to showcase University research with commercial potential.
An interesting cover story in "Optics & Photonics News" features Professor Branko Glisic's research on optic-fiber technology in structural health monitoring and the Streicker Bridge. It is titled "Sensing Trouble: Fiber Optics in Civil Engineering".
Dan Li, CEE graduate student, has received the Outstanding Student Paper Award at the 2012 American Geophysical Union (AGU) Fall Meeting held in December 2012 in San Francisco, CA. His paper was titled "Hydro-meteorological and microclimatic impacts of urbanization".

Professor Michael Celia received his award for CEE 581, Theory of Groundwater Flow , and Gordana Herning for CEE567, Advanced Design and Behavior of Steel Structures.
We are please to announce that Graduate Student Ted Segal has received the Undergraduate and Graduate Engineering Councils' Excellence in Teaching Award for courses taught in Spring 2012 and Fall 2012. He will be honored alongside other awardees at a luncheon ceremony in the Friend Center Convocation Room on Thursday, February 21st.

"VIRTUAL WATER TRADE" HELPS COPE WITH CLIMATE CHANGE
Climate change is likely to push nations to adjust their trading patterns to make more efficient use of water, according to new research from a team that integrated separate models of hydrology, climate change and trade policy.
