Professor Celia’s areas of research include ground-water hydrology, multi-phase flow in porous media, numerical modeling, contaminant transport simulation, and ecohydrology.   Ongoing projects include development of new simulation tools to model CO2 injection, migration, and leakage; studies of multi-phase flow and transport in porous media with a focus on multi-scale models, hysteresis, and phase trapping; and the nexus between water and energy and the implication for sustainable development.   The carbon work is art of a large multi-disciplinary effort at Princeton known as the Carbon Mitigation Initiative, which is part of the Princeton Environmental Institute.
