Research Interests

Minghui is working on the calibration of Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VCSEL) hygrometer and analyses of water vapor measurements in field campaigns. The VCSEL hygrometer is located on the top of the NSF G-V research plane. The past and ongoing campaigns with VCSEL hygrometer includes Stratospheric and Tropospheric Analyses of Regional Transport (START08) Campaign, Hiaper Pole-to-Pole Observations (HIPPO) Global Campaign, and the PRE-Depression Investigation of Cloud-systems in the Tropics (PREDICT) Campaign. These campaigns provide datasets that cover from 70° S to 80° N, surface to the upper troposphere and lower stratosphere. Based on these datasets, Minghui is interested in analyses of the climatology of ice supersaturations from 70° S to 80° N, comparison of aircraft-based data to NASA Aqua AIRS H2O satellite-based data and validation of ice supersaturations in climate models.
