Research Interests
Florian received his PhD in Physics from Stuttgart University, Germany in 2011. During his PhD he investigated a new theory for two-phase flow in media, which aims to overcome the shortcomings of existing modelsby taking into account the different hydrodynamic properties of connected and non-connected fluid parts at laboratory scales. He addressed the highly non-linear and strongly coupled partial differential equations analytically for specific problems and developed robust numerical methods for more general initial and boundary value problems. This background has made him well-prepared for his current quest on identification of the key properties for hysteresis and trapping phenomena in two-phase flow and supporting the knowledge transfer between this group and Jan's group in Bergen, Norway.
