Nelson Receives SEAS’ Emerson Electric Award

Celeste Nelson, Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering, has received the E. Lawrence Keyes ’51 / Emerson Electric Company Faculty Advancement Award from the School of Engineering and Applied Science. The award of $40,000 in research funds recognizes junior faculty members who have established vibrant teaching and research programs. Nelson’s research investigates the cellular mechanisms that determine the architecture of tissues and organs. In Spring 2009, she developed and taught a new course on “Quantitative Physiology and Tissue Design” (ChE 439/539), which received outstanding student reviews.
