John Lettow, ChE ’95, president and  co-founder of Vorbeck Materials in Maryland, uses the research of ChE Profs. Ilhan Aksay and Robert Prud’homme to produce commercial quantities of graphene for use in composite materials, electronics, and energy storage devices, among many other potential applications. Graphene, a single sheet of graphite, is electrically and thermally conductive, and is flexible yet one of the strongest materials measured.
