Salvatore Torquato, Professor of Chemistry and Princeton Institute for the Science and Technology of Materials, has been awarded a Simons Fellowship in Theoretical Physics. Senior Olivia Waring, a chemistry major with an interest in Chinese language and translation, has been awarded the 2012 Daniel M. Sachs Class of 1960 Graduating Scholarship, one of the highest awards given to Princeton University undergraduates. Waring, a native of Randolph, N.J, plans to use the Sachs award to pursue postgraduate studies in linguistics and philology at the University of Oxford, with an emphasis on Mandarin Chinese and Tibetan languages.
