Iron Mediated Redox Reactions: From Small Molecule Activation to Biomimetic Proton-Coupled Electron Transfer Studies

Redox reactions of iron are prominent in biological and chemical systems, serving a variety of functions that include small molecule activation and proton-coupled electron transfer (PCET). This presentation will describe various aspects of iron mediated redox reactions that pertain to these functions. Mechanistic studies of CO2 reduction, spectroscopic and structural studies of proposed nitrogenous intermediates of the type FexNyHz, and kinetic studies of PCET at synthetic [Fe-S] clusters will be emphasized.
