Profile
I completed my undergraduate degree at Sarah Lawrence College in 2006, obtaining a BA in Liberal Arts, with concentrations in literature and the Classics. After three years of farming and sailing on tall ships, I returned to academia by means of Columbia's Classics Post-Baccalaureate program, receiving a graduate certificate in 2010. I also completed upper level reading courses in both Latin and Greek at the CUNY Greek and Latin Summer Institute, and taught Latin to fourth and fifth grade students at a magnet elementary school in Manhattan.
Though my interests range widely within classical literature, at the moment I am most excited by issues of genre, intertextuality and metapoetics in Greek poetry, following tropes from their beginnings in archaic epic and lyric and on through to their reception by later poets, particularly the dramatic playwrights.
