Amanda Klause joined the department in the Fall of 2012. A native of Middletown CT, she graduated from Swarthmore College in 2012 with a BA in Greek and Latin. Her dissertation focuses on the consolatory poems in Statius’ Silvae and the networks of relationships that these works depict. She is interested especially in the ways in which Statius’ addressees are physically affected by the loss of their slaves, freedmen, wives, and animals. She also maintains interests in the early modern reception of Lucretius.
