Originally from Baltimore, I studied at Deep Springs College and Harvard University before entering the Ph.D. program at Princeton in 2009. Although I am interested in all aspects of Greek and Roman literature, as well as in Indo-European linguistics, my research focuses on ancient philosophy. My dissertation traces the development of Plato's doctrine of the immortality of the soul in his own dialogues and in the works of later ancient Platonists. Here at Princeton I have taught intermediate Latin and Greek and precepted for PHI 205 ("Introduction to Ancient Philosophy") and CLA 214 ("The Other Side of Rome"). In Fall 2014, I am teaching at Deep Springs College. I am a past President of the Telluride Association (www.tellurideassociation.org). If you are interested in reading the Rig Veda, let's talk!
