Macintosh Software
The OIT cluster Macs run the Mac OS 10.5 operating system (a.k.a. "Leopard"). For a general overview of the cluster Mac OS X configuration, see this page. Most of the software below can be launched with icons in the "Applications" or "Software Collection" folder in the Dock.
For some applications, a certain number of "seats" is specified. These applications are installed on every cluster Mac, but they are set up so that only the designated number of copies can be in use at any one time. If 10 copies are allowed and they are all in use, the 11th person who tries to launch the application will be unable to do so. Some of these license-limited applications have cross platform licenses shared with cluster PCs.
