Ian Cahir, social media strategist and staff writer, attended California State University, San Bernardino, where he studied mass communications. He spent more than 12 years in journalism as an editor, designer, columnist and online producer for the San Bernardino County Sun, The Sacramento Bee, sacticket.com, and the Topeka Capital-Journal. After leaving newspapers in 2006, he worked in communications for the University of Kansas' Lied Center; the KU School of Engineering; and the Agricultural Sustainability Institute at the University of California-Davis. He arrived at the University in January 2011. He has a son and daughter and a healthy obsession with soccer, "Star Wars" and game shows.
