Cass (Casundra) Cliatt '96, director of media relations, serves as the University's spokesperson and is responsible for disseminating major news to the news media. She also assists members of the University community with media outreach, interviews and media events; facilitates press access to campus; and contributes news articles to the University's campus publication, the Princeton University Bulletin. She holds an M.S. from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University and an A.B. in English from Princeton University, where she studied creative writing and completed a Spanish certificate after studying in Costa Rica.
A former journalist who wrote for Illinois' third largest newspaper, the Daily Herald, after beginning her career with the Gannett newspaper chain, she also worked in government. She served as the deputy director of communications/policy for the Office of the Cook County Clerk in Chicago prior to arriving at the University in July 2005. She is an identical twin, and in her free time she enjoys independent and foreign films, traveling abroad, camping and working on her first novel.
