Comparative Literature

Catherine Reilly joined Comparative Literature in 2010 and is working toward a Ph.D. She focuses primarily on Russian and German literature of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with particular attention to Marina Tsvetaeva and Russian émigré literature, intersections and correspondences between early Rilke and late Chekhov, and the poetics of bodily representation in its most literal forms (teratology, ceroplastics). Her interests also include phenomenology and structures of perception. She received her B.A. from Yale in Comparative Literature (2008). Following graduation, Catherine lived in Moscow, Russia where she taught at the Russian State University for the Humanities (RGGU), and served as a program coordinator for the American Councils for International Education. Catherine has additionally lived and worked in Germany and Singapore.
