Leonie Huddy, Stony Brook University: Partisan Identity and Political Action

Leonie Huddy is Professor of Political Science and founder and director of the Center for Survey Research at SUNY-Stony Brook University. Her general field of interest is the psychology underlying public opinion. Professor Huddy developed the “Health Pulse of America,” a national poll conducted to survey opinions of 810 adult Americans on their views about healthcare issues including adult weight and nutrition, childhood obesity, steroids, and stem cell research. Dr. Huddy is a regular poll commentator on national CBS radio, and has been quoted on poll-related matters in a variety of national newspapers and magazines. She received her PhD in 1988 from UCLA. Her research interests include: Political Attitudes; Groups and Politics; Socio-political Gerontology; Women and Politics; and Survey Methodology.
