Jeffrey Cohen's (CSDP 2008-2009) Book Awarded 2012 Goldsmith Prize
Going Local: Presidential Leadership in the Post-Broadcast Age (Cambridge University Press 2010) was awarded the 2012 Goldsmith prize for the academic book "that best fulfills the objective of improving democratic governance through an examination of the intersection between the media, politics and public policy." Jeffrey Cohen was a Visiting Scholar in the Center for the Study of Democratic Politics iin 2008-2009 when he was writing Going Local, and is chair of the department of Political Science at Fordham University. The Goldsmith book prize is given by the Joan Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics, and Public Policy at the John F. Kennedy School at Harvard University.
Professor Cohen's book also won the 2011 Neustadt Award from the American Political Science Association for the best book on the Presidency, awarded at the annual meeting of the association this past fall.
