Princeton University is located in central New Jersey approximately 50 miles southwest of New York City and 45 miles northeast of Philadelphia in Princeton, New Jersey. The Woodrow Wilson School, housed in the large white building designed by Minoru Yamasaki, is located at the corner of Washington Road and Prospect Street. To reach the Policy Research Institute for the Region, we recommend one of the following routes:

BY CAR:
From the North
Follow the New Jersey Turnpike SOUTH to EXIT 9 - New Brunswick. After the toll booth (use a booth on the far RIGHT), turn RIGHT onto the ramp to Highway 18 NORTH. Soon after, turn into the left-hand fork of the road; staying in the right lane (you will see a BENNIGAN'S restaurant ahead and to your right as you BEAR LEFT). You will immediately BEAR RIGHT for an obscured exit to US 1 SOUTH, Trenton. These three turns occur in rapid succession. Follow US 1 about 18 miles to the exit at Route 571 (WASHINGTON ROAD). Turn RIGHT and follow Washington Road (Route 571) across a bridge until you come to the second traffic light (Prospect Street). Turn right onto Prospect Street (The Woodrow Wilson School/Robertson Hall will be on your left). See parking directions below.
From Philadelphia, Delaware, Maryland, etc
Follow Route 95 North into New Jersey. Staying on Route 95 North, proceed to exit 8B, Princeton Pike North. Take Princeton Pike (Mercer St) until you reach a 25 MPH speed zone. Proceed on Mercer St. down the hill in front of you. Proceed up the hill and follow Mercer Street until it intersects with Nassau Street (get into the right-hand lane at this intersection). Turn right onto Nassau Street. Follow Nassau Street until you reach Washington Road. Turn right on to Washington Road. Follow Washington Road until the first traffic light at Prospect Street. Turn left onto Prospect Street (The Woodrow Wilson School/Robertson Hall will be on your left.) See parking directions below.
From the West or Midwest
In New Jersey, drive EAST on Interstate 78 until you reach Highway 206. Turn SOUTH and follow 206 SOUTH into Princeton. (206 South becomes Bayard Lane.) You will reach a three-way intersection of Bayard Lane, Nassau Street, and 206 South, turn LEFT onto NASSAU STREET. Follow Nassau Street until you reach Washington Road. Turn right on to Washington Road. Follow Washington Road until the first traffic light at Prospect Street. Turn left onto Prospect Street (The Woodrow Wilson School/Robertson Hall will be on your left.) See parking directions below.
From the South
Follow the New Jersey Turnpike NORTH to EXIT 8 - Hightstown. Follow signs for Route 571 (Heightstown). Continue for approximately 12 miles on Route 571 until you reach the intersection of Route 1. Continue straight on 571 across US 1. Once you cross the intersection, Route 571 becomes Washington Road. Continue on Washington Road across a bridge until you come to the second traffic light (Prospect Street). Turn right onto Prospect Street (The Woodrow Wilson School/Robertson Hall will be on your left.) See parking directions below.
Parking
PARKING & SHUTTLE SERVICE There are a limited number of ten-hour parking meters at the FAR END of Prospect Street. Please note that the meters nearest Robertson Hall allow only for two hours of parking. If you do not wish to park at a ten-hour meter or none are available, Princeton provides free parking and shuttle service in Lot 21. .
To reach Lot 21 from Robertson Hall, please continue straight on Prospect Street and make a right onto Fitzrandolph Road. You will find Lot 21 at the end of Fitzrandolph Road on the right side. .
To travel directly to Lot 21, please take Route One to Washington Road (Route 571 West) toward Princeton. Travel .9 mile to the first traffic light and turn right onto Faculty Road. Travel .4 mile and make a left onto Fitzrandolph Road. Stay straight on the service drive that runs along the sport fields and take the second left turn into Lot 21. Fitzrandolph Observatory will be on your right. Princeton’s campus shuttle (Blue Line) picks up passengers between 5:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. on weekdays and stops on Washington Road, right next to Robertson Hall. The shuttle will run every ten minutes from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. .
BY TRAIN:
From New York Penn Station or Trenton
Take any New Jersey Transit Northeast Corridor rail or Amtrak train going to PRINCETON JUNCTION (Many Amtrak trains do not stop at Princeton Junction; please read the schedule carefully). At Princeton Junction take the “Dinky,” a single car train operated by New Jersey Transit, to PRINCTON STATION, which is located on University Place at the southern end of campus, across from McCarter Theatre. Robertson Hall is a 10 minute walk across campus from PRINCETON STATION. Taxis are available from PRINCETON JUNCTION to Robertson Hall. PLEASE NOTE: The Dinky shuttle train does not run as frequently on weekends, so check a train schedule to make sure that there is a connection when you arrive at Princeton Junction. Taxis meet most rush-hour trains but cannot be depended upon to meet off-peak and weekend trains.
From Philadelphia, 30th Street Station
Via SEPTA: Take a Septa train to TRENTON, Septa's first and only New Jersey stop. Change to a New Jersey Transit train to PRINCETON JUNCTION. Follow the directions by train above.
Via Amtrak: Take an Amtrak train from Philadelphia to PRINCETON JUNCTION. Follow the directions by train above.
BY PLANE:
From Newark Airport
The PRINCETON AIRPORTER limousine has an information counter at the baggage claim area in each terminal at Newark Airport. Reservations can be made at the desk when you arrive at the airport for your trip to Princeton. However, reservations must be made in advance for your return trip to the airport. The one-way cost is approximately $30 per person. The trip takes approximately 90 minutes. The shuttle service runs every hour, at fifteen minutes past the hour, from 7:15 a.m. to 10:15 p.m. Sunday - Friday. A reduced schedule is in effect on Saturday. One should contact the Princeton Airporter for specifics and reservations at (609)587-6600.
From Philadelphia Airport Take the SEPTA (Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority) airport shuttle train to 30TH STREET STATION. The shuttle stops on the lower level of every terminal and costs approximately $5. Follow the directions by train above.
PLEASE NOTE: We do not recommend flying into JFK or LaGuardia airports in New York. It is expensive and time-consuming to travel through Manhattan to the train or bus station where transportation to Princeton is available.
