The Council on Science and Technology fosters education, research, and intellectual exchange that deepen and broaden understanding, experience, and appreciation of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The Council partners with engineering, mathematics, natural sciences, the arts, humanities, and social sciences to explore and promote the relation of STEM with culture and the course of public affairs.
The Council is guided by the following overarching goals to:
- Collaborate with university colleagues to educate a STEM-literate society through formal and informal learning experiences.
- Engage in and support research that contributes to the growing body of interdisciplinary collaborations and STEM education.
- Cultivate synergies among a broad and diverse community that bridge STEM, the arts, humanities and social sciences.
- Serve as a clearinghouse on innovations that promote excellent, equitable, and innovative STEM research and education.
