Cristina Mora-Torres' research examines the process by which U.S. Spanish language media personnel have drawn on ideas about culture, biology and history to reproduce the notion of a panethnic media market. Her project offers a novel historical analysis of the changes in the U.S. Latino media field from 1965 until present. It also links these findings to important theoretical debates about institutional change and about the role the media plays in reproducing racial/ethnic taxonomies.
