Xu Xin Speaks on the Beijing Olympics
Xu Xin, a 2005-2007 PHCWP fellow at Princeton, was invited to deliver a speech on “The Beijing Olympics and China’s Contested National Identity,” at the 41st Otago Foreign Policy School under the theme, “Sport and Foreign Policy in a Globalizing World,” at the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand on 23-26 June 2006. He presented a paper entitled “Diversity in Harmony: China’s Search for a New Vision for Regional Order,” and participated in the Roundtable on ”The Psychology of Nuclear Proliferation: Identity, Emotions, and Foreign Policy,” at the 20th IPSA World Congress in Fukuoka, Japan on 9-13 July 2006. He will attend the conference on “Narrative, Counter Narrative and The Beijing Olympics: Hearts, Minds and the Projection of Modern China” in the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia on 28 November 2006.
