DeSC Standard Vista Computers Migration to Windows 7 and MS Office 2010 Project
Microsoft Vista and Office 2007 will fall below the minimum software requirement for the DeSC Standard environment starting June 1, 2014. This project is to prepare for Princeton Prime, scheduled for go live in the summer of 2014. Departments may request OIT Desktop Support’s assistance by contacting the OIT Help Desk at 8-4357 or sending email to helpdesk@princeon.edu.
DeSC Standard OptiPlex Desktop Migration
All DeSC Standard OptiPlex 780s running Windows Vista will need to be reimaged to Windows 7 to remain in DeSC Standard after June 1, 2014. The OptiPlex models running Vista that will need to be replaced with the Dell OptiPlex 9020 include:
- Dell OptiPlex 755s
- Dell OptiPlex 960s running Windows Vista and Office 2007
The OptiPlex 960s running Windows 7 and Office 2010 may remain in DeSC Standard until December 2014. All DeSC Standard OptiPlex 990s, 9010s and 9020s are currently running Windows 7 and Office 2010 and do not fall below the hardware minimum in this calendar year.
DeSC Standard Laptop Migration
The Latitude E6400s will fall below the DeSC Standard hardware minimum by April 25, 2014 and will need to be replaced with one of the following Dell Latitudes models to remain in DeSC Standard.
- E7440
- E6440
- E7240
The Latitude E6410s and E4310s running Vista will need to be reimaged with the DeSC Windows 7 image or replaced before June 1, 2014 to remain in DeSC Standard.
The E6410 and E4310 running Windows 7 and Office 2010 are outside the scope of this migration project.
