Data Recovery

Redirected Computer Hard Disk Failure

  • If any Domain account logs onto any DeSC 745 Small Factor or DeSC 9010 AIO particpating in the DeSC 745 SFF Folder Redirection Service certain folders in the user's profile will be redirected to the network share. Click here to review how each folder in the Profile is configured for Folder Redirection.
  • If any Domain Account logs into any of the following DeSC models the user's profile will be stored locally on the machine:
    • Optiplex 745 (Desktop and Minitower), 755 (All Chassis), 960(All Chassis), 780 (All Chassis), 990(All Chassis), Optiplex 9010(Desktop and Minitower),
    • Dell Latitude D620, D630, E6400, E6410, E4310, E6420, E6320

These models are not authorized to particpate in the DeSC 745 SFF Redirection Service so a domain user of a 745 SFF or 9010 AIO who logs into any of these other models will not be able to access their redirected files nor will their profile data redirect.

Known Issues

  • Issue with some applications like Roxio   - Can’t save large files (~2GB) to Profile redirected  folders since they are redirected
    • Will need to save to a non-redirected profile location (see below for non-redirected folders in profile)
c:\users\default\Saved Games is a profile folder that can be used for this purpose
  •  If user logs onto more than one Folder Redirected DeSC 745 SFF or 9010 AIO, the user customized Favorites in Internet Explorer and user customized favorites in Windows Explorer on the second machine will not be editable until the user or SCAD/DCS member goes to properties and unchecks “Read-Only”.
