MacDeSC Standard Computer Model Specifications
For Macintosh computer models to be eligible for the MacDeSC Standard environment they must meet the following minimum specifications:
- Apple Intel Mac Computer
- Purchased on or after Jan 1, 2014
- Capable of running Mac OS X Mavericks (10.10)

Though MacDeSC Standard has many of the same policies as DeSC Standard (i.e. no user administrative access, centralized software distribution, etc.) not all administrative applications (primarily non-web enabled ones) are certified as compatible in this environment.
Purchasing New Computers
To purchase a MacDeSC Standard computer, log into the Princeton PRIME portal, and select the Apple Store. New computers purchased through the Princeton Apple Store should be charged against your department project/grant account.

An MacDeSC general fund fee of $50.00 will be charged for every Mac computer placed in the MacDeSC environment. This fund is used to purchase software, OSX maintenance, support software development, and acquire other resources to support the MacDeSC environment.
