Perspectives on Diversity
In 2006, the Diversity Working Group (DWG) sponsored a confidential employee survey, Perspectives on Diversity, to inform efforts to strengthen and diversify the University’s workforce. This survey asked Princeton staff members to respond to structured as well as open-ended questions about the fairness of employment practices, the openness of Princeton's culture and the extent to which people’s ideas are sought, heard and utilized in decision making. To ensure confidentiality, the DWG partnered with an outside consulting firm, Workforce Development Group, to administer the survey.
In addition to the survey, which was administered both electronically and by mail, the DWG asked Workforce Development Group to conduct a series of focus groups among members of the campus community to better understand the survey question responses.
