CHAPTER I: THE CALENDAR

Effective 1995-96*

FALL TERM

1. The Fall Term begins on the Thursday between September 11th and 17th and continues until Spring Term begins.
2. The Fall Term includes a midterm recess of nine days, a Thanksgiving recess of four days, a Winter recess of seventeen to twenty-four days, a reading period of nine days, an examination period of eleven days, and a semester break of eight days.
3. The Fall Term recess begins after the conclusion of the last class exercise on the Friday of the sixth full week of the term.
4. The Thanksgiving recess begins at the conclusion of the last class exercise on the Wednesday preceding Thanksgiving and ends on the following Sunday.
5. The Winter recess begins after the conclusion of the last class exercise on the Friday between December 12th and 18th, and ends on the Sunday between January 1st and 7th.
6. The Fall reading period begins on the Monday between January 2nd and 8th and continues until the beginning of examinations on the Wednesday between January 11th and 17th. Examinations end on the Saturday between January 21st and 27th. Semester break begins after the last examination and lasts for eight days.


SPRING TERM

1. The Spring Term begins on the Monday between January 30th and February 5th and continues until Commencement Day.
2. The Spring Term includes a midterm recess of nine days, a reading period of nine days, and an examination period of eleven days.
3. Spring Term recess begins after the conclusion of the last class exercise on the Friday of the sixth week of the term.
4. The Spring Term reading period begins on the Monday between May 1st (April 30th in a leap year) and May 7th and continues until the beginning of examinations on the Wednesday between May 10th (May 8th in a leap year) and May 16th. Examinations end on the Saturday between May 20th (May 19th in a leap year) and May 26th.


GENERAL

1. Commencement Day is the Tuesday between May 30th (May 28th in a leap year) end June 5th.
2. On years when conflicts with religious holy days arise, the Faculty Committee on Schedule may have to make modifications in the calendar.
