After having an M.A. in Chinese literature at Fudan University, Shanghai, China, Jue Chen joined the EAS Department in 2009. At Princeton, he has been focusing on early and medieval Chinese literature as well as Chinese intellectual history from 1000 to 1800. His dissertation topic is the reception history of Du Fu and the poetic transition from Tang (618-907) to Song (960-1279). Besides, he is also interested in Chan/Zen Buddhism in China and Japan, and his M.A. thesis completed in China has been developed into a book he co-authors, Song dai chanseng shi jikao 宋代禪僧詩輯考 (Shanghai: Fudan daxue chubanshe, 2012).
