Abstract:
We describe various quantum communication protocols, using either Gaussian states (for continuous-variable quantum cryptography) or non-Gaussian states (such as "Schrödinger's cat" states). An application of these techniques is the so called ânon-deterministic noiseless amplifierâ?, which is basically quantum teleportation with gain. In these experiments, the non-Gaussian statistics of the generated quantum states can be characterized from a reconstruction of the Wigner function by using quantum tomography. Future perspectives of these techniques will be discussed, especially with respect to scalability.
