Prof. Hakan Tureci, assistant professor in the department, has received the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA)’s Young Faculty Award (YFA) for his theoretical work on engineering complex photonic media for high-performance compact coherent light sources. The long-term goal of the YFA program is to develop the next generation of academic scientists, engineers and mathematicians in key disciplines who will focus a significant portion of their career on DoD and national security is

Prof. Andrew Houck has received the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA)’s Young Faculty Award (YFA) for his research on Scanned Probe Cavity Quantum Electrodynamics. This award will support a student to design and construct a new scanned probe tool for studying the interaction between light and matter and for isolating sources of quantum noise in a massively parallel manner.
