The IEEE Board of Directors has elected Prof. Mung Chiang an IEEE Fellow with the following citation “for contribution to optimization of communication networks and applications to wireless networks, broadband access, and the Internet". Prof. Chiang was also recently selected to receive the IEEE 2012 Kiyo Tomiyasu Award. Congratulations Mung!

We are pleased to announce that the Optical Society (OSA) Board of Directors has elected Prof. Stephen Chou as a Fellow of the Society for “fundamental contributions to nanophotonic device patterning and
engineering.”. OSA will formally recognize the 2011 fellows at an upcoming OSA conference.
Prof. Sharad Malik, together with Lintao Zhang of Microsoft Corp, Conor Madigan’00 of Kateeva and Matthew Moskewicz of the University of California have received the ICCAD Ten Year Retrospective Most Influential Paper Award for their paper titled “Efficient Conflict Driven Learning in Boolean Satisfiability Solver”. The papper was originally presented at the 2001 International Conference on Computer-Aided Designing (ICCAD). It was concluded
EE Graduate student Mohammed Shoaib has been awarded the 2011 Roberto Padovani Scholarship at Qualcomm Inc. The award citation states “Shoaib has a rare combination of both hardware and systems expertise, and is an original thinker and efficient implementer. He demonstrated remarkable aptitude for breaking down complex problems into sub-tasks and realizing workable solutions".
