Polyanskiy *11, Poor and Verdu receive IEEE Award
Yury Polyanskiy *11 together with Profs. Sergio Verdu and H. Vincent Poor have won the 2011 IEEE Information Theory Paper Award for their paper “Channel Coding Rate in the Finite Blocklength Regime,” IEEE Trans. Information Theory, vol. 56, no. 5, pp. 2307–2359, May 2010. The purpose of the Information Theory Paper Award is to recognize exceptional publications in the field and to stimulate interest in and encourage contributions to fields of interest of the IEEE Information Theory Society. Profs. Verdu and Poor co-advised Yury who will be beginning a faculty position at MIT in September.
