EE Professors receive Schmidt Fund Award
Profs. Gerard Wysocki, Hakan Tureci and Andrew Houck are among the recipients of the Eric and Wendy Schmidt Transformative Technology Fund award. Prof. Wysocki, together with Prof. Daniel Sigman, the Dusenbury Professor of Geological and Geophysical Sciences, have received this award for creating a nitrogen sensor that can monitor environmental change. Profs. Tureci and Houck have received this award for developing a quantum computer which could potentially answer questions currently impossible to address with today's computers. The Schmidt Fund was established in 2009 by Google CEO and Princeton alumnus Eric Schmidt and his wife, Wendy to support the development of new technologies that would potentially enable significant scientific and technological advances.
