Briskman '54 wins award for outstanding contribution in the field of aerospace communications
In mid-April Robert Briskman will be presented with the 2007 American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Aerospace Communications Award at an international conference in Seoul, Korea. Awarded for an outstanding contribution in the field of aerospace communications, Briskman is recognized for his role in developing and advancing the Satellite Digital Audio Radio Service (SDARS). Graduating from Princeton in 1954 with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, followed by a master’s from the University of Maryland, he went on to found SIRIUS Satellite Radio in 1991. Briskman’s technological innovations and accomplishments in the field of satellite communications systems have also earned him induction into the Space Foundation and the Society of Satellite Professionals International Halls of Fame.
