Eli Harari *73 joins Telegent board of directors
Eli Harari, the founder, chairman and CEO of SanDisk Corporation, was appointed to the board of directors of Telegent Systems as an independent board member beginning in the fourth quarter of 2009.
Telegent produces high performance television receivers that enable the reception of free-to-air broadcast TV in mobile handsets, laptops, netbooks and other portable devices.
Harari’s advancements in the flash memory field through SanDisk have been widely recognized in the industry. Last year, he had the distinction of being honored with the Robert N. Noyce Medal from the IEEE, a worldwide professional association for the advancement of technology.
SanDisk was founded in 1988 by Harari and collegues Sanjay Hehrota and Jack Yaun and has expanded to corporate locations worldwide. The company designs, develops, manufactures and markets flash storage products for a wide variety of electronic systems and digital devices.
As a physics major, Harari earned a B.S. at Manchester University in the UK. He received a Ph.D. from Princeton in mechanical and aerospace engineering. He serves on the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering’s Advisory Council.
