Rodriguez-Iturbe to receive inaugural Edward O. Wilson award
Ignacio Rodriguez-Iturbe, a professor of civil and environmental engineering, will be one of six recipients of the 2009 Edward O. Wilson Biodiversity Technology Pioneer Award. The honors will be the first of an annual award presented to scientists whose work has helped advance the biodiversity of life on planet Earth.
Rodriguez-Iturbe has been selected, in the words of the committee, "for seminal and exemplary engineering work with Ecohydrology, which has significantly contributed to the study and preservation of biodiversity on Earth."
Edward O. Wilson, the renowned professor of entomology and evolutionary biology at Harvard University for whom the honor is named, will present the awards on Thursday, April 9, 2009. The event will be hosted by the American Computer Museum and Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana.
