Hands-on how-to
The Society for Women Engineers held its annual High School Colloquium in April, inviting 30 high school girls from the Princeton area to a daylong event to introduce them to engineering. Among the day’s activities, members of the outreach group Princeton Engineering Education for Kids helped the girls compete to see who could build the best “acrobatic car.” Other parts of the day included presentations on engineering service abroad, autonomous vehicle engineering and a question-and-answer session with women engineers. Above, freshman Emily Lancaster shows one group how to work the Lego Mindstorms robotic vehicle set.
