Small Talk: Bacteria converse to behave collectively
How do bacteria communicate with each other? What do biofilms have in common with skyscrapers? This video, the first prize winner of the Princeton University 2013 Science Action competition, features innovative research at the intersection of molecular biology and engineering. Interviewed are MacArthur "genius" award winner and molecular biologist Bonnie Bassler, Donald R. Dixon '69 and Elizabeth W. Dixon Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Howard Stone, and Knut Drescher, a postdoctoral researcher in Stone's Complex Fluids Group at Princeton University.
