    Kelly McKowen is a doctoral student in the Department of Anthropology. His research interests include the comparative study of social welfare policy, political ideology, culture, Europeanization and globalization. For his dissertation, he plans to undertake long-term fieldwork in Scandinavia, exploring the social democratic welfare model as a cultural entity, shaping everyday conceptions of the relationship between the nation and the state, natives and newcomers, and the past and the future in the midst of social transformations related to European integration and globalization. Before coming to Princeton, Kelly received an A.B. in International Relations and Literary Arts from Brown University, and was a 2010-2011 Fulbright grantee to Norway.
