    Heiner Schulz specializes in international and comparative political economy. His research interests include banking sector liberalization in emerging markets, foreign direct investment in developing countries, and decision-making in international institutions. He has conducted empirical studies of institutional reform in the European Union and of decision-making by the European Court of Justice. His current research focuses on foreign bank entry in emerging markets and on the political determinants of foreign direct investment in developing countries. His work has been published in the American Journal of Political Science and International Organization. He was a National Fellow at the Hoover Institution in 2005-2006 and has been awarded a 2007-2009 Sloan Industry Studies Fellowship.
